Legendary American singer and producer Frankie Beverly, best known for his work with the iconic soul and funk band Maze, has passed away at the age of 77.

His family confirmed the news on Wednesday via the official Instagram account of Frankie Beverly and Maze.

“Grieving the loss of a loved one is a profound and emotional journey. As we process our feelings of sorrow, reflection, and remembrance, we kindly request privacy and understanding during this time, allowing us to grieve in our own way.

“This is a period of healing, and we appreciate your respect for our need for solitude as we honor the memory of our beloved Howard Stanley Beverly, known to the world as Frankie Beverly.”

Beverly founded Maze, originally known as Raw Soul, in his hometown of Philadelphia in 1970, solidifying his place in music history with timeless R&B hits.
