Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, better known as Mr P, has openly criticized his twin brother Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, in a heartfelt and candid letter shared on Instagram.

In the letter, Peter addresses long-standing issues between the siblings, particularly Paul’s remarks that seem to diminish Peter’s role in their former music duo, P-Square.

Peter expressed his frustration with what he sees as Paul’s ongoing attempts to downplay his contributions to the group they co-founded, which rose to prominence across Africa.

He wrote: ‘My dear brother Paul, as I’ve told you many times, I am not in competition with you or anyone else.’

Peter accused Paul of repeatedly giving interviews in which he claims to have written and sung 99 percent of P-Square’s songs, and criticized him for dismissing ‘Ejeajo,’ a song Peter wrote, as a failure.

‘In your recent interviews, you stated that you wrote and sang 99 percent of all P-SQUARE songs and discredited me by calling our song with TI, “Ejeajo,” which I wrote, a failure,’ Peter wrote.

Peter also questioned Paul’s disregard for other successful tracks they created together, asking if songs like ‘Get-Squared,’ ‘Bizzy Body,’ ‘Personally,’ and others were also considered failures.

He noted that he has always acknowledged Paul’s talent and songwriting skills in interviews but lamented that Paul seems to take pleasure in belittling him rather than appreciating the praise.

‘Instead of being grateful for my kind words, you seem to enjoy rubbing it in my face, forgetting that we’ve come this far by God’s grace,’ Peter added.

The letter delves into deeper issues, with Peter accusing Paul of marginalizing and belittling him. He expressed disappointment that instead of working together to reclaim their place in the Nigerian music industry, Paul has chosen to side with their older brother, Jude Okoye, to assert dominance within the group.

‘You always find ways to marginalize and humiliate me, claiming to be P-SQUARE’s songwriter, composer, producer, singer, backup vocalist—basically, everything, including P-SQUARE’s video director, band, promoter, manager, and choreographer,’ Peter stated.

The open letter has sparked significant reactions from fans and industry figures alike, many of whom have closely followed the ups and downs of the Okoye brothers’ relationship.

P-Square, once one of Africa’s most celebrated musical duos, disbanded in 2017 following a series of disputes. Although the brothers briefly reconciled in 2021 and returned to the stage together, underlying tensions have continued to affect their relationship.
